BIOGRAPHY
Hailing from Gujranwala, Dr. Farrukh Hameed is a distinguished voice in South Asian drama, theatre, and direction. His creative vision has also graced the stage, most notably through his direction of Laali at the 26th Drama Festival, Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore. Trained in theatrical writing at the University of Michigan in the United States, he brings a global perspective to South Asian dramatic traditions. His doctoral dissertation, a groundbreaking comparative study of meta-theatre in the plays of Shahid Nadeem and Girish Karnad, unravels the intricate patterns of South Asian theatre and affirms his radical scholarship. With his innovative insights, Dr. Hameed continues to redefine the contours of drama and literature in the region. Alongside his research and directorial work, Dr. Hameed has been teaching English language and literature, including American Literature, 20th-century Drama, Classics in Drama, Shakespearean Studies, Modern Drama, Literary Criticism, Literary Theory, Postcolonial Literature, Research Methodology, Non-Fiction Prose, and Communication Skills, since 2017. He has the honor of serving as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, a Visiting Lecturer at Gift University, Gujranwala, and as an Assistant Professor at the National College of Business Administration & Economics (NCBA&E), Lahore. He now holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Chenab, Gujrat.
