BIOGRAPHY

It is my distinction to hold two research degrees at the post-graduate level. I have completed an M.Phil. in English Literature from Minhaj University Lahore and an M.Phil. in English Language and Literature from the University of Sargodha. Additionally, my research work is quite remarkable. I am the pioneer of the Edwardian analysis of plays. Previously, research scholars predominantly applied a Brechtian approach to drama, but I was the first to introduce the dramatic theory of Edward Bond and its relevance to English drama. My research study is titled Ali's Theater for Reason: An Edwardian Analysis of Usman Ali's Plays. In this study, I analyzed five plays by Pakistani English playwright Usman Ali in the light of Edward Bond’s perspective on drama and theater. I completed this M.Phil. in English Literature with distinction, earning a CGPA of 3.41 from Minhaj University Lahore. Furthermore, my research in Classical Literature is showcased in my second M.Phil. in English Language and Literature from the University of Sargodha. For this, I researched the narrative structure using Vladimir Propp's theory on a translated folktale, Heer and Ranjha. This classical work, written by the "Shakespeare of Punjabi literature," was later translated by Frederick Usborne, an English translator, and is entitled The Adventures of Hir and Ranjha. The title of my research is An Exploration of the Master Structure of The Adventures of Hir and Ranjha: A Proppian Study. Last but not least, I have 10 research publications, primarily focusing on modern literature. The links to these research articles are provided below. To date, I have supervised 35 research theses at the BS/M.Phil. levels. As an emerging scholar of English Literature, I am blessed with a creative aura. I have written approximately 150 English poems, some of which have been featured in various national and international anthologies. Born in Mandi Bahauddin, I completed my M.Phil. in English Literature in 2018. Since then, I have taught at some of the top-ranking universities in Pakistan. During my tenure at the University of Lahore Gujrat Campus, University of Sargodha Mandi Bahauddin Campus, University of Central Punjab Gujranwala, and GCU Mandi Bahauddin Campus, I analyzed the diverse academic, social, psychological, and administrative issues of male and female students. I started serving at GC Mandi Bahauddin in October 2012, where I taught for two years (2012–2014) at the Master’s and BS levels. My courses included Classical Poetry, Romantic Poetry, and Modern Poetry. I achieved a 90% success rate in the first annual exams, which earned me a Malaysian visit visa as a reward, although it remained an unfulfilled opportunity. At GC, we organized Oedipus Rex under the direction of an emerging English dramatist of Pakistan. In November 2014, I left GC College and was selected for a position at the private, public sub-campus of the University of Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin Campus. There, I continued to serve at the BS and Master’s levels, teaching Classical, Romantic, and Modern Poetry. In July 2015, the Department of English dramatized the play The Guilt by Usman Ali. The department also established Ali’s Theatre, which became the second-most renowned theater in Punjab after Ajoka Theatre. I performed managerial duties for the department and received a prize from Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, for my services. In 2015, I also began my M.Phil. in Language and Literature from the University of Sargodha. In 2016, I advanced my academic career by attending two research conferences, one at Kinnaird College and another at Punjab University. I also participated in a multidisciplinary conference at the University of Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin Campus. During this time, I presented two papers under the guidance of Usman Ali. These papers received first-place recognition in both conferences. My first paper focused on the narrative structure of the Pakistani folk tale Heer and Ranjha, and my second paper examined the dynamics of power in Ali’s The Odyssey. Both papers were praised by Ejaz Asghar, then Chairperson of the Department of English at the University of Sargodha. In 2017, my research activities flourished. One of my students, Bhaktawar Alishba, achieved 8.5 bands in the British and Australian Council IELTS exams, dedicating her success to me as her teacher. In October, my two papers, The Narrative Structure of the Pakistani Folk Tale Heer and Ranjha and Stylistic Scrutiny of Philip Larkin’s Take Kiddies Home and Birds, were selected for presentation at NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi. The session was chaired by Shirley Dita from De La Salle University. In November 2017, the Department of English at the University of Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin Campus, organized an international conference on English Literature, graced by Dr. Claire Chambers from the University of York. I was part of the organizing committee and presented a paper on a new historical study of The Indus Saga by Aitzaz Ahsan. This session was chaired by Naima Mihas from Lasbela University, Balochistan. In December, the University of Education, Township Campus, honored me by selecting my paper for presentation, chaired by Dr. Waseema, Dean of Humanities at Air University Islamabad. 2018 was a landmark year for my research. I supervised 25 students and was recognized as the best researcher by the Department of English at the University of Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin Campus. Dr. Ghulam Ali from the University of Gujrat awarded me the Best Researcher Award of 2018. I also received a laptop as a reward for being the best supervisor, an award announced by Waris Nadeem Warraich. In 2018, I participated in the fourth International Conference of the Linguistic Association of Pakistan (ICLAP) held at Fatima Jinnah Women University in Rawalpindi. I presented a paper titled Critical Discourse Analysis of Heer and Ranjha by Charles Frederick Usborne. The session was chaired by Dr. Tafseer Ahmed, who has over 17 years of teaching and research experience. I also accompanied a group of students to GCU Faisalabad, where I presented a paper alongside them in a session chaired by Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz Arif, Chair of the Department of English Language and Literature. In 2019, I took a group of researchers to Garrison University Lahore, where we were honored by the English Department. I presented a paper at the second National Conference on English Language, Literature, and Education (NACELLE), which was themed around 21st-century trends in English language, literature, and education. My paper, Edwardian Analysis of The Last Metaphor, was presented in a session chaired by Mr. Muhammad Furqan Tanvir from UMT Lahore.I have been teaching since 2013 and have a deep passion for inspiring students, particularly in Classical Poetry. I have taught Classical, Romantic, and Modern Poetry since 2012, relishing the rhetoric of literary giants like Milton, Shakespeare, and Alexander Pope, and cherishing the words of Shelley, Keats, and Wordsworth. I admire the works of Yeats, Larkin, and T.S. Eliot for their innovative contributions to modern English literature. I also taught Functional English courses at the University of Sargodha, Mandi Bhauddin Campus, including Communication Skills and Technical Report Writing. In April 2019, I began teaching as LECTUER in English at the University of Central Punjab, Gujranwala. That same year, I presented a paper at the Islamic International University Islamabad and delivered a virtual presentation at the Harvard Faculty Club in Boston, USA. In September 2019, I joined the University of Lahore, Gujrat Campus. Since then, I have been a part of the institution through its transformation from the University of Lahore, Gujrat Campus, to the University of Chenab. I am currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Languages at the University of Chenab. It has been a fascinating journey, particularly after COVID 19. Many of my poems were published in national and international magazines and anthologies, covering regions across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Following the recognition of my creative work, I also founded a literary magazine, The Wordsmith E-Magazine. I have published two issues so far, and it has gained international exposure. Many international writers are now a part of The Wordsmith E-Magazine.
