BIOGRAPHY
I, Asad Ali is a dynamic scholar of linguistics/applied linguistics, completed his MPhil (Applied Linguistics) from The University of Lahore, Gujrat Campus in 2019. I have been working as a subject specialist of English in Allied School officers’ campus, Kunjah. Later, I worked as a lecturer in Punjab Group of Colleges, Lalamus in 2021. I have been working as a lecturer of linguistics in The University of Lahore, Sargodha Campus, Pakistan with additional responsibilities of exam-coordination, research coordination, secretary of BoS and the member of academic council of the main campus, the university of Lahore. I have an extensive teaching and research experience in diverse range of areas such as syntax, pragmatics, morphology, first/second language acquisition, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics. I have submitted and worked on the research projects in collaboration with Higher Education Department, British Council in 2022. I have published my 11 research articles in HEC Y-category, X-category and W-category. My 6 articles have been accepted in Q1 journals---Heliyon, International Journal of Multilingualism, Sage Open, Linguistic Inquiry and Cogent: Arts and Humanities. I am an official reviewer of Sage open journals, Taylors and Francis. The overall impact factor on Google Scholar is 7.4 in 2024. My research fucuses on the theory of verbal argument, its agreement. I have introduced a unified theory of scrambling in Urdu challenging the orthodox conceptualization of Mahajan (1990) and Ayesha Kidwai (2008) whose research have been published in Chambride and Massachusetts Institute Technology (MIT). I have completed many international projects on linguisticMy PhD dissertation, published in an international W category journal, challenges the very foundation of the previous studies on grammatical aspects of intra-sentential code-switching since the 1970s. After rejecting the existing models of intra-sentential CS on theoretical and empirical grounds, I have presented a new perspective on intra-sentential code-switching in the light of Chomsky’s Minimalist Program. I happen to be the only PhD from a Pakistani university who has worked on the most recent developments made in contemporary linguistic theory i.e. Chomsky’s Phase Theory. My paper has been responded to by Jeff MacSwan, Professor University of Maryland, USA and he has dedicated a full paper A REPLY TO MALIK (published in W category journal) for the discussion on my new perspective.
