No.  Title  Details
Evaluating the effect of barley to mitigate diet induced obesity biomarkers The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of barley of obesity biomarkers of rats. Thirty rats were reared in three groups namely normal (G1), control (G2), and barley fed (G3). Diet-based obesity biomarkers were induced to G2 and G3 group animals by feeding them on high fat and high sucrose diet. Afterward, G1 and G2 were fed on a regular diet while G3 was fed on a barley-based diet for one month. The results show that anthropometrical parameters (weight, BMI, abdominal circumference, thoracic circumference, and abdominal circumference to thoracic circumference ratio) were decreased significantly in barley fed group as compared to the control group, while, mean values of the rat’s length indicated that there is no significant effect of diet on the length of rats. Biochemical parameters (Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and Triglycerides) were also decreased in the barley fed group. There was no significant effect of barley on the liver and renal blood values.
