BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Atif Hussain is currently associate professor and chairperson of the department of physics at The University of Chenab, Gujrat. In 2016, He acquired his PhD degree (2016) in Optical Physics from Changchun university of science and technology, China, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lin Jingquan. In 2016, he initiated his career as assistant professor (IPFP) in the department of physics, at the University of Gujrat, Gujrat. After that he joined the university of Lahore as an assistant professor in Physics department and served here for 5 years. He has taught core courses to graduate and under-graduate students like Laser engineering, Applied Nuclear & particle physics, Nanotechnology, classical mechanics and MMP. He has worked successfully to establish/develop the BS Physics Lab at the university of Chenab, Gujrat. He is the convenor of different committees in the physics department like, BOS, Research and the Admissions. His PhD covered the topics of laser-matter interaction included, laser spectroscopy, laser-induced plasma expansion, LIBS, magnetic confinement of plasma. He has wide exposure to work in the experimental field, such as ND:YAG lasers, ICCD photography, Optical emission spectroscopy, plasma diagnostic techniques and applications. He has actively participated in various national/international conferences, symposiums, webinars, and workshops. He has presented a large number of academic talks in various national/international meetings. He has published fifteen research articles in the HEC recognized/SCI journals, which suggested useful for various science and technology applications. He has great experience in supervising MPhil level students. More than twenty MPhil students had successfully completed their research thesis under his supervision. He is known as HEC approved supervisor in 2022. Currently, his core areas of research are Nano-optics, Nano-photonics, Plasmonic, Nanotechnology, material science etc.
