Awareness & Training Session | Safe & Respectful Workplace marked an initiative by The University of Chenab to promote dignity, respect, and professional conduct. The Office of Student Affairs organized the session to strengthen awareness about workplace harassment and encourage a safe environment. Moreover, the program encouraged participants to understand rights, responsibilities, and institutional expectations. Under the leadership of Rector Engr. Muhammad Raza Chohan, the session emphasized institutional responsibility and respectful professional practices. Chief Guest Dr. Najma Afzal Khan, Ombudsperson, Punjab, shared valuable guidance on workplace harassment, rights, responsibilities, and professional conduct. Her insights encouraged dialogue among participants.
Additionally, Honourable Additional DC, Gujrat, Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain, graced the session and contributed to its significance. Representatives from six departments also joined the engagement, bringing public-sector perspectives. These departments included District Health Authority Gujrat, District Education Authority Gujrat, Local Government & Community Development Department Gujrat, Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mal, Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (DHQ), and District Emergency Office (Rescue 1122). Throughout the session, participants explored important considerations surrounding workplace dignity, professional behavior, and personal responsibilities. Furthermore, the discussion highlighted awareness as a tool for preventing harassment and supporting respectful interactions. Such initiatives can help individuals recognize inappropriate conduct and understand institutional responses.
Meanwhile, participation from multiple departments strengthened the session’s collaborative character. Their involvement created opportunities for shared learning and institutional understanding. Consequently, the engagement reinforced collective responsibility in developing professional environments grounded in fairness, dignity, and respect. Finally, the session reaffirmed The University of Chenab’s commitment to a safe and respectful workplace.
