Pharmacy being a multi-faceted field of science strives to accomplish revolutionary alterations in order to enhance the production of pharmaceutical products and the utilization of these products in relieving the ailments of the community. Studies reveal pharmaceutical sector to be a lifesaving. Moreover, it has proved to be beneficial in pecuniary perspective as it has a broad market that can never decline. Besides, it is not only a significant prospect of health care units but is also contributing factor in any nations financial sector. Catering the clinical prospects of this field, the department of Pharmacy offers 5-years of Pharm-D (Doctor of Pharmacy), two rears of MPhil Pharmaceutic and, MPhil Pharmacology program in accordance with the exigencies of the Pharmacy council of Pakistan.
All the three fields in pharmaceutical sector i.e., pharmacy, pharmaceutics, & pharmacology hold a historical background as a field of arts and science that deals with manufacturing and distributing medicinal product. But over the time the role has been transformed and now the pharmacists also deal with various other activities in health care set ups for instance, clinical pharmaceutical settings in hospitals and community and aspects like pharmaceutical manufacturing, drug administrative organizations, research facilitation (discovery, manufacture, delivery of drugs) and last but not the least coaching of health care staff.
The administration established Pharmacy department in order to make it the focal point for the department of pharmaceutical sciences. The Pharmaceutical Sciences unit comprises of upgraded lecture halls, conference halls and meeting rooms with high-end audio-visual set up, state-of-the-arts research laboratories along with progressive supplies. The department paves way for students to be a part of various industrial units in pharmaceutical set ups through internship programs and research projects so as to implement their learning in practical filed.
Pharmaceutical sciences unit ensures the students are equipped with the proper training that allows them to work with precision in the field. In addition to this, the department makes them capable to acquire a requisite level of ethical as well as technical skills, distinguishing technical & non-technical credentials in a regulated & reproducible ambience, and to enhance the verdict power. Apart from this, we train the students to work efficiently in the time of crisis, to develop the proper judgement, appropriate leadership qualities, essential problem solving abilities, requisite administrative and handling skills so that they can ensure proper communication between all the components of the community i.e., health care department, community, disciplines, and patients. Besides, team work is the highlight of our institution.
Modules
The proposed modules will be applied within a time span of 4 semesters. You can also spend an additional year in research exchange program which is important to gain more experience which will aid throughout the professional life. Generally, such graduate programs are based on a strong core of fundamental ideas and a vast range of choices about the remaining coursework.
Teaching
Generally accepted Principles
Acquirement of factual and theoretical efficiency is the cornerstone for a graduate Doctor of Pharmacy. Learning on the graduate level is self-reliant process and essentially comprises on the knowledge acquired from studying research, performing practical tasks and from academic course work. The classes ensures that the core tasks are complemented by guidance from the teachers.
Coaching Sessions
All the coaching sessions and classes are conducted in the week days and no weekend classes are allowed on the weekends. Apart from this, team discussions, symposiums, demonstrations, quizzes, class activities, experimentation, outdoor hospital visits, research work and interdisciplinary meetings are also conducted.
Teaching Plan
The advised teaching plan is mentioned below:

- interdepartmental meeting: Once in a month
- Guest lectures: From time to time

Point to be noted:
- Each and every class will be coordinated by the staff.
- Every training session will be examined by the consultative body consultants & will be graded accordingly.
- Attendance percentage of the students should be at least 75% in the semesters.
- The quality assurance department will monitor the program components as per the scheme of the study.
Research activities dealing with segregation & production of biologically related materials for the sake of usage in selective and regulated drug distribution devices, binders, sedimentation reduction agents, capsule covering ingredient, and utilization of computational skills in drug manufacture is taught in this institute.
Pharmacy Unit is devoted to demonstrating the distinguishing characteristics c of The University of Chenab, Gujrat competence in inculcating the values of nationality, commitment to the profession and hard work.
Research is requisite in any well reputed institution. It ensures the communication between the student and the teaching faculty in order to give better results. For the sake coping with the increases challenges of the present era, inter-disciplinary working is necessary. Therefore, we are also focusing to build healthy working as well as learning environment.
Assessment
All the graduate students will be examined on a daily basis through academic activities. This assessment will continue periodically as well.
1. General Principles
- The examination is assessment is conclusive, fair, and dependable.
- Developmental, continuous, and final examination is help for theory as well a practical work. Besides, assessment of research is a separate task.
2. Formative Assessment
This examination is both continuous and end-of-term. The continuous one is for the theoretical course work as well as experimental skills. The latter in the end of each semester. The former is based on the theoretical and practical work concerned. End of term (semester exam) assessment is held at the end of each semester (up to the 10th semester).
This will ensure proper feedback to the students as well as to the faculty members to solve any academic problems/issues for further improvement.
3.Internal examination
The accomplishment of students within and after the study period will be examined continuously and will be recorded as well. This record will be an evidence of students hard work and performance throughout the semester and marks will be awarded on the basis of this record.
4. Summative Assessment
The division of the marks will be according to the subject and include theory and practical performance. Passing criteria is 50%. It will be compulsory for the student to pass both the practical as well as theory separately.
Duration
The minimum duration for completion of this program is 2 years (4 semesters).
Entry Requirement
Before applying for a degree, you should first check that we recognize your undergraduate education qualification. This can include:
- Pakistani Based Examinations:
- Level 6 – Bachelor (Hons) of 8-10 semesters with 124-140+ Credits Hours in relevant subject.
- Level 6 – MA/MSc (16 years) in relevant subject.
- International Qualifications:
- Any qualifications/degree program which are declared equivalent to Level 6 in relevant subject by the Higher Education Commission.
- Minimum 2.5/4.0 CGPA in semester system or 60% in annual system examination are required.
Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) administrated by the relevant department is mandatory for all postgraduate programs.
