The Department of Physical Sciences is one of the primary departments of The University of Chenab. The department of Physical Sciences offers you the degree that will gear your strong mathematical ability and commitment enabling the courage to explore the utmost passion for mathematics. The M.Phil. in Mathematics is a postgraduate specialization degree that aims at integrating and deepening the knowledge and prowess in mathematics. It further develops students’ capacity to conduct supervised research.
The M.Phil. Mathematics develops and articulates a real process to evaluate and understand the numerical and graphical information in the course and society at large. The expertise of the instructors always immaculate applications of mathematics in problem-solving, finance, probability, statistics, geometry, population growth. The Department of Mathematics offers programs leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in pure mathematics and applied mathematics.

Modules
The M.Phil. Mathematics is a two-year program designed for students wishing to attain a thorough grounding in pure Mathematics at an advanced level, either as a preparation for doctoral research or as an autonomous qualification.
In the second year, students have the opportunity both to broaden and deepen their knowledge, adding further options in mathematics and related areas.
Students finally submit a second, longer dissertation, project, or a substantial publication. Those intending to proceed to doctoral work after their MPhil should consult with their course conveners about their second-year option choices early in their first year of study.
The extra time involved in the two-year M.Phil. allows for internationally-recognized standards of expertise. The opportunities for mathematical research are unparalleled and like a glorious puff piece. The combination of aplomb faculty and research cognizant environment is one of the strengths of the course.
Our degree program consists of core and optional modules. In core modules, you will study essential topics in algebra, analysis, and applied mathematics. Optional modules cover the entire range of mathematical sciences, including algebra, combinatorics, number theory, geometry, topology, pure and applied analysis, differential equations, and applications to physical, biological, and data sciences.
There are core modules in the first and second years of study. The third-year comprises optional modules. In the fourth year, the research activities are planned in modern areas of Mathematics to find solutions to current mathematical problems.
Teaching
The Department of Mathematics focuses on the scientific and logical learning environment to provide the students with a zestful learning experience. Auxiliary online materials are available and there will be various events, research-based national and international seminars, and activities to further enhance the learning and logical reasoning. The chief purpose of The Department of mathematics is to provide a skilled and result-oriented ambiance. As a research student, your closest contact will be with your supervisor, who will guide you. The supervisory relationship is at the heart of your research. Your supervisor(s) are experts in their field who will guide you throughout your degree and will agree upon a program of reading, research, and writing with you. We have eminent faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and an infrastructure of international standards.

The allocation of supervision for this course is the responsibility of the Faculty of Biological and Physical Sciences which caters to the students’ interest anyway, to pursue the meticulous research work. Students are also supported throughout the course, by their supervisors, who are in continuous alliance and assistance with the student to produce a decked-up research work. The research activities are planned in modern areas of Mathematics to find solutions to current mathematical problems.
Assessment
The University’s policy on assessment for coursework programs is based on the following four principles:
- Assessment. Must encourage and. reinforce learning.
- Assessment must enable. Robust and fair, judgments about students and performance.
- Assessment. Practices must be fair and equitable to students and give them the opportunity to demonstrate. What they have learned.
- Assessment must. Maintain academic standards.
Duration
The minimum duration for completion of MPhil degree is two years. HEC allows a maximum period of four years to complete MS degree requirements.
Entry Requirement
Before applying for a degree, you should first check that we recognize your undergraduate education qualification. This can include:
- Pakistani Based Examinations:
- Level 6 – Bachelor (Hons) of 8-10 semesters with 124-140+ Credits Hours in relevant subject.
- Level 6 – MA/MSc (16 years) in relevant subject.
- International Qualifications:
- Any qualifications/degree program which are declared equivalent to Level 6 in relevant subject by the Higher Education Commission.
- Minimum 2.5/4.0 CGPA in semester system or 60% in annual system examination are required.
Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) administrated by the relevant department is mandatory for all postgraduate programs.

Tuition Fee
Tuition fees cover the majority of the costs of your study, including teaching and assessment. Fees are charged at the start of each academic semester. If you pay your fees directly to the University, you can also choose to pay in instalments.

The Bachelor of Science Honors in Mathematics is an undergraduate specialization degree that aims at integrating and deepening the knowledge and prowess in mathematics. Moreover, it aims at helping the students to design and develop a strong background in the fundamentals of Mathematics.
