Program Overview
A Ph.D. program in mathematics has a wide scope and may lead to a variety of professional pathways within and outside of academia. The scope of a Ph.D. in Mathematics is diverse, and the skills acquired during the program, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and quantitative analysis, are highly transferable to a wide range of careers. Graduates often find themselves well-equipped to tackle complex challenges and contribute to advancements in various fields. Additionally, the demand for mathematicians with advanced degrees continues to grow as mathematics plays a fundamental role in addressing contemporary problems. A Ph.D. in mathematics is mostly focused on original research. The goals of doctoral students’ study include expanding mathematical knowledge, creating new ideas, and resolving challenging mathematical issues.

The University’s policy on assessment for coursework programs is based on the following four principles:
- Assessment. Must encourage and. reinforce learning.
- Assessment must enable. Robust and fair, judgments about students and performance.
- Assessment. Practices must be fair and equitable to students and give them the opportunity to demonstrate. What they have learned.
- Assessment must. Maintain academic standards.
Duration
The minimum duration for completion of Phd degree is three years. HEC allows a maximum period of eight years to complete Phd degree requirements.
Entry Requirement
Admission is purely merit-base and rests on the following criteria:
- Qualifications: MS/M. Phil in mathematics with Thesis and CGPA at least 3.0/4.0.
- Admission test either GRE/GAT-subjective test with at least 60% marks.
- Or to have passed the departmental subjective test with at least 70% marks.
- Departmental interview.

Intro-disciplinary Qualifications
- Along with the above 2-6 conditions, students must pass GRE-subject (international) with at least 70% marks in mathematics.
- The candidate must take 9 credit hours of deficiency courses of level 7.

The Department of Physical Sciences is one of the primary departments of The University of Chenab. The department of Mathematics offers you the degree that will gear your strong mathematical ability and commitment enabling the courage to explore the utmost passion for mathematics. The Bachelor of Science Honors in Mathematics is an undergraduate specialization degree that aims at integrating and deepening the knowledge and prowess in mathematics. It further develops students’ capacity to conduct supervised research. The basic objective of the department is to provide the students with the latest developments associated with mathematics and its latest technologies. Moreover, it aims at helping the students to design and develop a strong background in the fundamentals of Mathematics.
The Department of Mathematics is continuing to get information and gather innovative ideas; used to improve class teaching and professorial assignments as well as to motivate curriculum changes. The BS and MPhil programs offered in Mathematics are formulated to the Scheme of studies approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan to meet the national and international standards.
The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics develops and articulates a real process to evaluate and understand the numerical and graphical information in the course and society at large. The expertise of the instructors always immaculate applications of mathematics in problem-solving, finance, probability, statistics, geometry, population growth. The Department of Physical Sciences offers programs leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in pure mathematics and applied mathematics.
A degree in mathematics provides an outstanding base on which to build a career in virtually any high technology field and provides a particularly absolute foundation for advanced study in engineering, finance, and science.
As mathematics major, you will be thoroughly trained in classical mathematics, in addition to being exposed to ideas on the cutting edge of current research.
